You know what's dumb? Buying a game on a DVD when the computer you intend to install it on only reads CDs, and only realizing this when you go to put the disc in. OTL
I'm going to try to format my posts with BULLET POINTS so that maybe I will stay on-topic and not ramble on forever like I tend to do.
Watching
- Doctor Who: I've been watching it via streaming sites. I had tried to watch it before and got up to the Father's Day episode, but I have a huuuge embarrassment squick (like, I hate watching characters do stupid embarrassing shit) and I ended up stopping. I picked it up again a couple weeks ago and now I'm on episode 3 of season 3. I loooovveee it. It's so fun and campy, but it can really lay on the drama when it wants to. I like Ten better than Nine, but I haven't seen enough of Martha to judge her.
- Code Geass? Ugh, I need to watch some of the over 100GB of anime I have on my Mac so I can burn it to CDs and delete it. My dad wants to take XP off my old craptastic laptop and install it on my Mac, and so do I, but I don't have enough HD space to make as large a partition as I want. First on the list is Code Geass, since I was already halfway through that.
Playing
- The Longest Journey: I just beat it. Old game is old, but still good. The graphics are pretty terrible except for the prerendered backgrounds. Fortunately the excellent story and voice acting made up for it. It's quite possibly my favorite point-and-click adventure game ever.
- Dreamfall? That bit at the beginning? Yeah, that's my problem here. I actually played DF on the Xbox before I'd heard of TLJ, and I wanted to go back and play it again after beating TLJ since things would make more sense now. Hopefully my dad can work some kind of computer magic or something.
Relevant to my interests
- Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World Preview - Damn, that title is long. Didn't it use to be Knights of Ratatosk or something? Anyway, the preview looks great, except for "...the game looks exactly the same as the original did five years ago." LOL wut? It's not cel-shaded and the character models aren't super-deformed, so I'm going to have to say... no. No, the graphics are very different.
- Ninokuni: The Another World Trailer - IT'S LIKE SOMEONE TOOK A STUDIO GHIBLI MOVIE AND STUCK IT ON A DS CARTRIDGE. I have no idea what's going on in this trailer, but it looks beautiful.
- Avalon Code Trailer - It's a cam trailer so the audio/video quality is crap, but you can still see how great the graphics look. Nintendo Power had an article on this game recently, and it sound interesting. The world is going to end, and you get to decide what is carried over into the new one. You collect data for this purpose in your book. The book contains codes for everyone and everything you come across, and altering these codes affects the person or object. For example, you can cure someone of an illness by removing that part of their code.
- Fable II Ability Walkthrough - The skill/ability/weapons system looks way more deep than Fable's, which is awesome. My favorite part how they don't have armor (instead there's a skill). This way people can dress how they want, instead of choosing clothes based on stats.
- Rune Factory: Frontier Trailer - This looks like it's just a remake of the DS game with some new extra features (the dungeons look different and I think I saw a new girl). I will probably still get it despite owning the DS version because I'm a hooker for Harvest Moon. :(
- Again: Eye of Providence Trailer - I'm including this one here for sheer WTF value. If this wasn't on GAMEtrailers, I would have never known it was for a game. A mystery game for the DS sounds cool, but still... What did I just watch?
- Halo Wars Demonstration - So far good RTS games on consoles have been few and far between. Hopefully this will be one of them. They've captured the feel of Halo really well. I might end up enjoying this game more than the trilogy.
- Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Trailer - I miss Lloyd's old voice. :( Overall, the voices sound okay except HOW MANY RPG PROTAGONISTS ARE THEY GOING TO LET JOHNNY YOUNG BOSCH VOICE?! There needs to be some kind of limit...
- Halo Wars Trailer - This is a bit older than the TGS videos, but I'm posting it because it's pretty. XD The dialogue is kind of lame, though. Also, Serena is hotter than Cortana. And she wears clothes!
